Saturday Links I Love and a Vacation

Good morning everyone. Before we get on with this week’s links, I’d just like to announce that I’m taking a 2-week blogging hiatus for an upcoming vacation (yay!) and just to have some time to do some work on the site. I’ll be back on July 25t!

Here are this week’s awesome linky links:

If you, like me, feel like you have too many interests and a lack of focus, go check out Scanner Tribe for awesome advice about how to rock our special personality type. I can’t wait to explore this site more!

I fell in love with the playful, joyous message of Heartmade, an awesome creative blog and coaching business.

Also love Life is Limitless

…and Dirty Footprints Studio

…and Jamie Ridler Studios. I could just sit and look at the header. Lots of being inspired by other creative souls this week.

And finally, my beautiful blogging buddy Val of Balancing Val is hosting this month’s Self-Discovery Word-by-Word! Her word is Beauty. I love it!

(For my past word-by-word submissions, click here, here and here)

I might even pop in from my blogging hiatus  to post my submission, I don’t want to miss this one!

See you in two weeks!

PS: I’m still accepting submissions for the Big Scary Monster series! Check out Val’s guest post this week!

Saturday Links I Love 6/18/11

Another week has come and gone. These Saturday links posts are like a little calendar, and I’m blown away every time I write one. Has a week really gone by already? Was my birthday already a week ago?

Here’s some of my favorite things from around the web this week:

What would you save if your house were on fire? Check  out The Burning House. So interesting.

I’ve heard some amazing stories about self-hypnosis during childbirth. I’m still deciding what I think about it, but here’s an interesting site to check out.

Yet another amazing post from Christie at her new site, christieinge.com. Also, don’t miss her post on why she chose her own name for her website.

Finally, a poignant interview with Aimee Liu on Nourishing the Soul about Fighting the Stigma of Eating Disorders. I can also apply to any mental illness.

There you have it, folks. Have an awesome week and leave me your favorite links to your own blog or anything else in the comments!

Saturday Links I Love 6/4/11

Well, we made it to the end of another week, older and wiser I hope. June is, in my opinion, the best month of the year, and not just because it’s my birth month. Rainy spring starts to give way to summer, but the sweltering heat hasn’t quite kicked in. Green grass, flowers, leaves on the trees and we appreciate them because we still remember the gloom of winter, but we aren’t yet jaded by summer’s heat.  I love June because it matches my creative energy beautifully; bright and blooming, but not too intense.

Here  are some of the most inspiring things I’ve found on the we this week:

  • If you missed my guest post at Health for the Whole self, check it out!
  • I love scrapbooking because it’s the art of preserving memory. I haven’t yet converted to digital scrapbooking, but my Mom, cousins and aunts all love Heritage Makers, and they create beautiful books. My mom ever became a consultant recently, and she’d be happy to show you the ropes.
  • This chocolate torte looks amazing! Angie’s recipes and photos always do.
  • Don’t miss this incredible piece about risk on Roots of She
  • If you’d like to participate in this month’s Self Discovery Word-by-Word, get the details here. If you missed my contributions for the last few months, catch them here and here.
  • And finally, I fell in love with “What does recovery look like?” at Nourishing to Soul.
What did you find online this week?

So, how was everyone’s special week? How do you feel? I feel a million times better. I wasn’t “perfect” this week by any means. I felt overwhelmed a few times, I didn’t take quite as many walks or do as much yoga as I would have liked, but I did what I could. I haven’t completely avoided sugar, but I don’t feel like I’ve been abducted by the sugar aliens anymore. Um…yeah, I don’t know what that meant either.

Anyway, here are some special links I’d like to share with you this week, and don’t forget to leave your links in the comments and remember, you’re welcome to link to something you’ve written or that you found somewhere else. Don’t be shy!

Sometimes I completely fall in love with a blog and I read through every post like a novel. This week, that blog is Earth Empress.

I love raiding my dad’s garden every year, so take a look at the yummy stuff he’s growing at Rob’s Vegetable Garden. I wish I could send you a massive, juicy tomato come August.

The other day, I had the opportunity to consult with the incredible Carolyn Edlund. Wow. Just wow. I can’t recommend her enough. Visit Artsy Shark for some killer information on building your creative business.

Oh, and if you haven’t read this month’s Self-Discovery Word-by-Word roundup, catch it here at Big Girl Bombshell. Here’s my contribution in case you missed it.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week, but if you didn’t get a chance to hit your reset button this week, start next week. Actually, start now. You’re way to valuable to get burned out. Show yourself some love!

Saturday Links I Love 5/21/11

What an enlightening week. I’ve experienced a couple creative blocks that I’m still working to clear, but that’s the beauty of struggle. It’s all about getting stronger and learning what doesn’t work, and this work I’ve learned lots of things that don’t work! I’ll chalk it up to bad weather and emotional growing pains and call it a victory.

So here’s a couple things I’ve fallen in love with this week, and I hope you enjoy then all as much as I have!

I’m a huge fan of Crazy Sexy Life and this article is one of the best yet. I really think this woman should write a screenplay about her experience with dating and cancer.

Yesterday, I discovered the awesomeness that is Adele thanks to Medicinal Marzipan. I can’t get enough of this song. Or this one. It’s so refreshing to see such a gorgeous, talented and curvy woman in the media.

I also stumbled upon The Creative Healing Studio (thank you Facebook). Michelle creates these beautiful mosaics and I love that she combines natural health with creativity, because I believe those things are intricately connected.

I’m sure I’ve featured Christie before, but posts like this one are the reason why I believe she’s one of the best intuitive eating bloggers out there, and I’m sure I’ll feature her many times in the future.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Don’t forget to leave your favorite links in the comments!

Saturday Links I Love-5/14/11

Morning! I’m  about to scitter off to work for the day, so here are my favorite links this week!

If you like Jim Henson, you love this.

I love this project, 100 Days of Real Food.

Check out the wonderful illustrations of Striped Aardvark!

And finally, don’t miss Meghan McCain’s letter to Glenn Beck after he body-bashed her over the radio. I love her.

Tooteloo!

Saturday Links I Love-5/7/11

Four days of uninterupted beautiful weather: a record for Northern Utah. I hope everyone had da great week, and here’s this week’s links. Don’t forget to add your own links in the comments!

I love Tara’s post on laziness at The Organic Sister. It’s something I suspect I’ve always known but never really thought about.

This is an older post at Miss Minimalist, but one of my all-time favorites.

I discovered Creative Everyday this week and I love it! Full of whimsical art and great creative initiatives, so take a look!

Are you in the mood for gritty, edgy photography from a teenage gypsy? Check out We Live Young.

That’s all I have for this week, enjoy your weekend!

Saturday Links I Love 4/30/11

Good morning everyone! This morning, I woke up warm and cozy in my bed, saw the bright light filtering through the closed blinds in my bedroom. I got up and opened the blinds to see the beautiful spring day I was hoping for…and instead I saw about four inches of snow smothering EVERYTHING. I try to stay positive, but I’m not sure how to deal with this one because I’m sick to death of winter. Someday, I will move somewhere where snow doesn’t exist. I’m crossing my fingers that the bright sun will get to work on melting this fluffy white ridiculousness, pronto.

So here’s my favorite links for the week, enjoy and don’t forget to leave your links in the comments!

Don’t forget to check out the Word-by-Word roundup at Medicinal Marzipan! If you missed my post, here it is.

I found this site, created by too grad students in Salt Lake City, not too far from me! If  you live in Utah, make sure to read this article. I found myself either nodding in agreement or with my jaw in my lap.

To get an idea of how much America is actually consuming, take a look at this. Bet you’ll think twice about that disposable water bottle.

My friend and her two sisters choose a word and they each take a picture to represent this word. The result is some amazing photography, so don’t miss Three Thousand Words.

That’s is for this week, so hopefully this snow melts before I decide to crawl back into bed and never resurface. Or go outside with a hair dryer and melt it myself.

Have a good weekend!
